Born Dessie Amanda Headley May 19, 1920, to Silas and Barbra Headley in Monroe, Ohio, she attended Bethesda School of Nursing in Zanesville, Ohio, where she became a registered nurse in 1945.
After moving to Cordova as a Baptist missionary nurse, she met and married Carl Glanville in 1952.
Besides raising four children, Dessie worked as a staff nurse and as the director of nursing at the Homer hospital. She later worked as a contract mail carrier in Anchor Point and as a gold miner at Cape Yakataga.
Dessie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Carl Glanville; daughter, Denise Glanville of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Diann Glanville and John and Laurie Glanville, all of Anchor Point; and grandsons, David, Grant, Shane and Blake Glanville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Glanville; parents, Silas and Barbra; brother, Homer; and sisters, Jessie and Hazel.
Dessie loved people and is remembered by many for her kind and loving spirit. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all those who went the extra mile to brighten Dessie's last years with encouragement and love.
There are no services planned.∼A memorial service was held for Dessie and Carl Glanville on 07/08/2011 at the Glacierview Baptist Church.
