Marianna was the fifth child of Johann and Julianna (Mischel) Schmidt, born at Karlsruhe, Beresan, Russia, now the Ukraine. In 1891 at age nine Marianna, her parents and siblings, came to the USA and journeyed to North Dakota to obtain a homestead that they farmed. On 06 November 1899 Marianna married John Senn on 06 November 1899 and bore 11 children: Joseph, Ferdinand, Maryeva, Leboures, Adam, Julia, Frances, John F., Vincent, Rudolf and Anton before her husband died in 1918. Eight months later Mary was born. She farmed with her sons until 1928, when she married Joseph Zent, a widower with 8 chldren. After Marianna died in 1941 she was buried beside her first husband, John Senn at St. Placidus Cemetery.
