MERCEDES - Jose Oscar Galvan, 78, a lifetime resident of Mercedes passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Knapp Medical center in Weslaco Texas. Mr. Galvan served in the United States Air force. Mr. Galvan was a loving a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. Preceded in death by his wife, Merced Galvan, daughter, Araceli Saldana, and father, Roberto Galvan.

He is survived by his loving family; mother, Elena G. Galvan of Mercedes; 3 Sons: Oscar (Carmen) Galvan Jr. of Mercedes, Robert (Diana) Galvan of Mercedes, Rolando (Jackie) Galvan of Mercedes, 3 Daughters: Janie (Bobby) Mitchell of Raymondville, Leticia (Joe) Silva of Mercedes, Debra (Ricardo) Muniz of Mercedes, 18 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren. Sister-in law: Lupita Galvan of Mercedes, son-in-law: Noe Saldana of San Benito, 3 Brothers: Roy (Becky) Galvan of Mercedes, Valde ((Tina) Galvan of California, Javier (Maria) Galvan of Houston, 2 sisters: Delia (Alfredo) Hinojosa of Mercedes, Gloria (+Jerry) Johnson of Houston.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 10:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. with a rosary at 7:00p.m. Funeral services: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10:00a.m. with mass at Our Lady of Mercy. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Mercedes Texas. Military services are under the direction of American Legion Post #205 of Harlingen Texas. Pallbearers: Ricky de la Torre, Omar Galvan, Oliver Galvan, Kenny Silva, Jai Robledo, Jesse Galvan. Honorary pallbearers: Robert Galvan Jr., Tyler Galvan & Travis Galvan.
