Services for Joe B. Siler, 76, Clovis, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Terry Anderson and R. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Steed-Todd Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Sisler died Thursday, Dec. 8, 1994 at Plains Medical/Clovis. He was born Dec. 20, 1917, in Enid, Okla. He moved to Clovis in 1931 with his parents. In 1935 he graduated from Clovis High School and was employed by the Clovis National Bank in 1936 as a bookkeeper. He was continuously employed by the bank except for four years, during which he served in the Air Force during World War II. He married Charlyne Allyn on Sept. 8, 1945, in Clovis. He was named cashier of the bank in 1945, vice president in 1947, executive vice president and chief executive officer in 1949 and president in 1956. He was elected to the bank board in 1948 and chairman of the board in 1982, retiring from the board in 1987.
He had served as director of the Federal Reserve Bank of El Paso, a member of the Government Relations Council of the American Bankers Association, a member of the New Mexico Board of Mountain Bell and a director of First New Mexico Bankshare Corporation, the state's largest bank holding company. He had also served as chairman of the Committee of Fifty, the Washington Committee of the Committee of Fifty and as a member of the Curry County Board and Clovis Chamber of Commerce Board. He was a past president of the New Mexico Bankers Association, past chairman of the Uniform Tax Treatment Committee of the American Bankers Association and past member of the executive committee of the National Bank Division of the ABA and a past director of the Association of Military Banks. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlyne Sisler, of the home in Clovis; and one brother, Charles C. Sisler and his wife, Charlotte, St. Louis, Mo.
Casket bearers will be directors of Sunwest Bank, Randy Harris, Lawrence Maberry, Jay Gurley, Bob Martin, Bill Kinyon, Richard Rowley, Don Bonner and Dr. Jake Moberly.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

He had just returned to Clovis after serving 4 years of war duty in the Army in Europe when they married.

Clovis Community College (CCC), located in Clovis, New Mexico, is a higher education institution offering instruction at the associate's degree level. Due to the close proximity and past connections, CCC works closely with Eastern New Mexico University to provide area residents New Mexico, state in the SW United States. At its northwestern corner are the so-called Four Corners, where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah meet at right angles; New Mexico is also bordered by Oklahoma (NE), Texas (E, S), and Mexico (S). has received a $1.76 million donation from the Joe and Charlyne Sisler Foundation, the largest donation in the history of the college. The Sislers were prominent citizens of Clovis and supported many charitable causes. The Sisler Foundation was created when Charlyne Sisler passed away IN 2009.. As a result of the donation, the college will complete the second phase of its Allied Health Center, which will be named the Joe and Charlyne Sisler Allied Health Building. The completion of the center will allow the college to house all of its health education programs under one roof.
