ABERNATHY, Jack F. 88, passed away May 21, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa, graduating from Hillsborough High School. He attended the University of Florida where upon draffted into the U.S. Army to serve in WWII with the 106th infantry division. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and imprisioned until the liberation by the U.S. Forces. He spent his career in the automobile business. He was proud of his service to his country and most importantly, his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nora E. Abernathy; his three children, daughter, Sandra and Ted Palfy; daughter, Susie and Wayne Timmerman; son, Jack and Shelia Abernathy; grandchildren, Kim Gouge, Nikki Bedell, Kevin Ferguson, Bryan Abernathy, Shara Rutledge and 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like yo thank the staff at James A. Haley VA Hospital and Suncoast Hospice. Graveside services will be held May 25th 10 am at the Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa. The family will receive friends at the Abernathy home following the services.
