NORTH CLARENDON - Frank Louis Wilk,Sr., 87, of North Clarendon, died Wednesday morning, May 23, 2012, at his residence, peacefully.

He was born on October 5, 1924, in Center Rutland, the son of John and Julia (Skowron) Wilk.

Mr. Wilk grew up in West Rutland where he attended the West Rutland High School prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII on the USS Lavaca.

Mr. Wilk was a co-founder of Wilk Brothers Inc., paving and concrete contractors who also provided crane service, where he was employed for many years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Christ the King Church, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1122 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #345.

Mr. Wilk enjoyed his faithful companion, Foxy, working around the house, going out to dinner with family and friends and going to the camp in Maine.

Survivors include his son, Frank L. Wilk Jr. and his wife Noreen of North Clarendon; his daughter, Melinda Wilk Conforti and her husband James of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; his grandson, Jaron Wilk of North Clarendon; two sisters, Mary French of Rutland Town and Bernice Kulig of West Rutland; a brother, Joseph P. Wilk of North Clarendon; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sara May Wilk, on Jan. 6, 2009; a sister, Josephine A. Wilk, on Nov. 18, 2010; three brothers, John F. Wilk on Dec. 3, 2010, Stanley Wilk on Aug. 29, 2000, and Walter Wilk on March 20, 2006.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland.

Burial with military honors will be 9 a.m. Saturday, June 2, in the East Clarendon Cemetery.
