He was born in Tappen, North Dakota on April 6, 1918. Graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941, serving five years in the North African and Italian theaters of operations. He was awarded the Purple Heart during action on the Anzio Beachhead in Italy. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Major. He joined the Exxon Corporation at the Baton Rouge refinery in 1941 and retired in 1985. Religious services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Dunham Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 701 N. Boulevard. Visitation during the hour prior to the service. Interment in the Greenoaks Memorial Park at a private burial service. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera of more than 60 years; his parents Lola M. and Richard E. Beisner; and a brother, Logan Beisner. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Beisner and Melinda Palacio of Santa Barbara, California; and a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Beisner Baer and Bill Baer, and two grandsons, Peter and Kevin Baer, of Denver, Colorado. He was a professional engineer licensed by the state of Louisiana, a former Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, a past commander of the U.S. Power Squadron in Baton Rouge (which provides safe boating instruction to the public), a past president of Tigerland Exxon Annuitants Club, and a member of the Baton Rouge Country Club. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., in charge of arrangements.
