Mrs. Minnie Pearl Brown Black, 98, formerly of Brian Center, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Black was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia on Jan. 25, 1914, a daughter of William and Ada Dunbar Brown, both deceased. She was a retired nurses aide and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hinson of Hickory; her son, James Harry Perkins of Powhatan, Virginia; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Black; and her daughters, Marie Parlier, Esther Woods and Sarah Gammon.
