Frederick was born to Frederick and Aleta (Vessey) Guindon. During his childhood, he moved to Beresford, SD, where he graduated from Beresford High School in 1944. From 1944 to 1945, he served in the U. S. Navy. Later, he attended college at SDSU in Brookings, SD and at Fort Collins, CO.

On July 5, 1948, Frederick married Charlean Roberts at Brookings, SD. They resided in Beresford, SD. In 1952, Frederick began practicing veterinary medicine with Dr. D. L. Cotton. In 1976, he became the Chief Inspecting Veterinarian for the Sioux Falls Stockyards.

On August 11, 1978, Frederick married Jane Everton at Sioux Falls, SD.

Frederick's memberships included United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 132, El Riad Shrine, Yankton Consistory, and the V. F. W.

Frederick was survived by his wife, three sons, two step-daughters, one sister, his mother, and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
