Patsy Ruth Ashcraft (Spears, Christensen) Dec. 12, 1950- May 25, 2010 Patsy was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at home after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Ukiah, CA to Mary Lee and William C. Spears. She lived her entire life in Ukiah, raising her children, and working in Housekeeping and Laundry at Valley View Skilled Nursing for the past 30 years. Patsy was blessed to have had two loving marriages during her lifetime, the first to Johan (John) Christensen from 1969 until his death in 1982, and then to Jerry Ashcraft from 1988 until his death in 2002. She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Bill and Laura Christensen of Ukiah, Rick and Kristina Christensen of Santa Rosa, and Kevin and Coreena Christensen of Redwood Valley, grandchildren Dalton, Justin and Will Christensen of Ukiah, Chelsea, Ricky, and Joseph Christensen of Santa Rosa, and Blake and Trent Christensen of Redwood Valley. She is also survived by her father William C. Spears of Ukiah, her sister Cathy Franks of Portland, OR, her sister-by-choice Melva Bird, of Arkansas, her son-by-choice Bill Rantala III, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, her work family from Valley View, and the many friends of her children and grandchildren whom she also treated like cherished family members. She was Preceded in death by her two husbands, her mother Mary Spears, and her sister Darlene. Patsy's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and their friends, cooking and baking for them, and spoiling them all with unexpected gifts and treats. She loved taking care of her pet turtles Myrtle and Yurtle, and she loved collecting anything with a turtle theme. Services will be held Tuesday June 1st at 1:00 pm at Eversole Mortuary, burial will be at the Russian River Cemetery. Immediately following the services, there will be a reception in the Landmark Room at the Discovery Inn 1340 N State St, Ukiah. Friends are asked to bring a pot-luck dish and memories to share. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance ( www.ovariancancer.org), The Women's Cancer Awareness Group ( www.WCAGroup.net), or to the charity of one's choice.
