Charles Thompson Rites to be Held Friday Afternoon (Humboldt Republican, Nov 1, 1940, p. 1)

Charles William Thompson, 75, passed away at his home in Dakota City Wednesday, October 30. after being in ill health for some time. Funeral services will be held Friday (this) afternoon from the Lindhurt Funeral Home at 2 o'clock with burial in Union cemetery. The Rev. W.L. Breaw, pastor of the local Methodist church, will officiate.

Mr. Thompson was born in Illinois, and came to Humboldt county with his parents when a small lad. They settled on a homestead north of the present town of Humboldt. It was here that he attended the rural school and grew to manhood.

He was married to Suzanna Maasdan at Rutland in 1896, and six children were born to them, four of whom survive.

Mrs. Thompson passed away ten years ago. Surviving Mr. Thompson are four daughters. Mrs. Ruth Barrett and Esther Thompson of Dakota City, Mrs. Albert Wepel of Stanhope, and Mrs. Arthur Haviland of Livermore. He is also survived by a brother, Wiley Thompson of Grand Junction, Colorado, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Olmstead (sic) of Ayrshire and Laura Thompson of Madelia, Minnesota.
