Janice G. Haanpaa, 58, of Chisholm, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing.
She was born Feb. 16, 1946, in Hibbing, to Anton C. and Helen (Verant) Leustek. She was a 1964 graduate of Chisholm High School and attended the former Hibbing Junior College. She was a lifelong Chisholm resident. Janice was united in marriage on Nov. 6, 1970, in Hibbing, to Edmond W. Haanpaa. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church of Chisholm. Janice was an excellent homemaker and talented interior decorator. She also loved her summer sunshine and her yard work.
Survivors include her husband, Edmond; mother, Helen Chuk; brothers: Daniel Leustek, Charles (Joanne) Leustek, Patrick (Vickie) Leustek, and Chad Chuk; sisters: Audrey (Ronald) Bullis, Gladys Javor, Judy (Richard) Kafut, Charlotte (Frank) Mancuso, Fay (Norman Jr.) Humphrey, and Peggy Chuk; numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anton Leustek; first husband, James R. Corradi; and stepfather, Louis Chuk.
