Leonard loved playing his banjo and going to music jams. He was also a member of the National Guard in Knoxville, Iowa. Funeral services were held at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home, Pastor Kirk ERWIN officiating. Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery in Marion County, IA.

Leonard Clair Sanders was born on September 22,1924 in Powesheik Co, he was the son of "Cage" Alfred McCajah Sanders and Clara Mabel Surber-Sanders. Leonard grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Leonard first married was Galdys Merie Wright-Budurov on Apr 7, 1945 in Knoxville, IA. Leonard would later marry Ruth Blythe on April 10,1949 in Knoxville, Iowa. Ruth passed away on July 5, 1984. Leonard would later meet Alberta Sutton, and on November 18,1995, they were united in marriage in Knoxville, Iowa. Leonard loved playing his banjo and going to music jams. He was also a member of the National Gaurd in Knoxville, Iowa. He was employed by Weldon Strip Mining and the Red Rock Dam. In later years he worked for Hy-Vee and did odd jobs. Leonard passed away on Saturday, October 21,2006 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 82 years and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; sister, Aletha Corrall Sanders-Carnahan; and brothers, Millard Buell Sanders, Wayne Alfred Sanders and Marvin Keith Sanders. Funeral services were held at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Pastor Kirk ERWIN officiating. Internment; Lincoln Cemetary-Marion County,Iowa. Leonard was laid to rest on Tuesday,October 24,2006.

Leonard's first wife was Galdys Merie WRIGHT-BUDUROV. They were married on Apr 7, 1945 in Knoxville, IA. Later she would remarry so her memorial lists her last name as MARSHALL.

Leonard's second wife was Ruth BLYTHE. They were married on Apr 10, 1949 in Knoxville, IA. Note: Ruth BLYTHE-SANDERS died July 5, 1984.

Leonard's third wife was Alberta G. SLYKHUIS-OLIVER-SUTTON. They were married Nov 18, 1995, in Knoxville, IA. Alberta is buried in Greenwood cemetery with her 1st husband.
