Edith was born between Georgetown and Indianola, Illinois, the daughter, and only child, of Cloyd Dye and Mary (Spicer) Dye. She married Oscar Brooks, and was the mother of Dalton and Eileen "Kickie". She was a prominent Georgetown citizen, who lived there all her life. She died in the home of her parents at the age of 26, after a long and brave fight with the great white plague. She was survived by her husband; her parents; and her children.
