Birth name: Adolph Conrad Gocken. He was born Aug 2, 1892 in Wahoo to Fred and Antonia (Buns) Gocken. He farmed in Saunders County until he entered the military in March 1918 where he served in the medical corps of the Fourth Division with the army of occupation. He returned to the States in 1919 and farmed at several locations until about 1939 when he retired due to poor health. He and his wife, Ruby, operated a grocery store (Gerkens) at 504 West Jensen Street in Fremont.
He and Ruby Haurigan were married January 1, 1918. They had one son, Jack Richard Gerken. His funeral service was held at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont, Nebraska.
