David H. Hayslett, 78, passed away peacefully May 8, 2012 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Hayslett was born March 23, 1934 to the late James and Ollie Hayslett in Alleghany County, VA. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Following his service in the Army, he went to work as a Machinist Foreman with NORSHIPCO, retiring after 47 years and 2 weeks. After his retirement, he was able to enjoy the things he loved, spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and fishing. Some people love to fish, Mr. Hayslett lived to fish. His kindness, devotion, and outgoing personality will be deeply missed. David was an extremely devoted husband. His family and friends meant everything to him. There were no strangers to David; only friends he hadn't met yet. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Grayce Hayslett.
Left to cherish his memory are a host family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 pm, Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 14, 2012 at the funeral home.
