Floyd Miller was the oldest of seven children who lived to adulthood, born to Roy and Ella C. Larson Miller.

He was raised in Williston, ND and in Clay County, Iowa. His parents moved to California around WWII for work opportunities, and all seven children moved there either with their parents or as young adults.

Floyd's mother Ella was the oldest of six children born to Anders (Andrew) Botolvson and Susan Larson. Ella was 100% Norwegian. Anders was the only child of eight who was born in America - his siblings were all born in Norway.

Anders' mother, Kristi Hansdatter Svardal, was my g.g.grandmother Kari's older sister. They were on the same ship from Norway to America in 1851 with their husbands and children. Their younger sister, Brita, was on the ship also, not yet married. The three sisters and their brother Per Hansson Svardal farmed on neighboring farms in Dodge County, MN for about two decades. All families except Kristi's remained in Dodge County the rest of their lives and are buried at S. Zumbro Lutheran Church, down the road from their farms, which they helped to build.
