MURDO — Funeral services
for Mrs. Lottie Zelma Pierce,
86, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday
at the United Methodist Church
with the Rev. R. M. Walker
officiating.
The body will lie in state
Friday afternoon and evening
and Saturday morning at the
Hofmeister Funeral Home in
Murdo. Burial will be in the
Murdo cemetery.
She was born Nov. 19, 1886
at Rothsay, Minn., to Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Parks and died
March 27 at Rapid City. She
married Elmer Pierce and in
1908 moved to Murdo where
they operated a butcher shop
for a number of years. She
taught school until 1927 then
served as county auditor and
county treasurer, retiring in
1955. She held offices in the
Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah
L o d g e , Royal Neighbors,
American Legion Auxiliary and
Women's Society of Christian
Service and was
member of the
Thimble Club.
S u r v i v o r s include two
daughters, Mrs. Tom (Mildred)
Grabel, Custer, and Mrs.
Everett (Lola) Cressy, Murdo;
nine grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren
and four great -
great - grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by two sisters
and five brothers.
