The News-Journal, May 1, 1941

Funeral services will be held this afternoon [1 May 1941] at 2:30 o'clock at the Beech Grove Baptist Church at Black Gnat for Mrs. Evelyne Hinton, 85 years old, who died at her home near Black Gnat Tuesday morning [29 Apr 1941]. Rev. D. L. Druien will conduct the services and burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Hinton was a native of Adair County and was born there on March 24, 1856, the daughter of the late William and Malinda Curry. She has made her home in the Black Gnat section for several years and is widely known in this section. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H. O. Sharp, Taylor County; Mrs. Bessie Sharp, New Berlin, Ill.; Mrs. Welby Hinton, New Berlin, Ill.; two sons, Robert Hinton and Guy Hinton, of Black Gnat; 37 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Evelyne Hinton, 85, whose funeral services were held last Thursday at the Beech Grove Baptist Church, were: Harold Larimore, Bernice Wayne, Broadus Akin, Homer Shreve, Ralph Sharp, and Lester Hinton. Flower bearers were: Mrs. Katie Greenburg, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Less Jones, Louisville, Miss Geneva Hinton, Miss Eva Akin, Mrs. Frances Hinton and Mrs. Frances Herron.
