Moles was by far, imho, the best cat that ever walked this Earth. She was born in a litter of 3, but her mother wandered away and was killed. One kitten died and Moles and her brother, Golem, came to live with us. Later, Golem went with her mother, my roommate, Lisa. I carried Moles to all of my classes in an old roll top lunchbox (with holes in it) and fed her hourly with an eyedropper. Because of this, Moles and I bonded like Mother and daughter. One of her favorite tricks as a kitten was to sit in the toilet, in the water. We never quite understood why she would do that and had to keep the toilet closed unless someone was using it or else find a cat in the water.

Moles later had a litter of 5 kittens by our cat, Marcel. All of the kitten were given new homes except for Paloma, her daughter. Moles loved being a mother. She groomed Paloma daily from the time she was born until Moles died 18 years later. The "girls" walked with their tails intertwined and slept together in a heap, under the blankets on our bed. Paloma only survived one year without her precious Mommycat. Moles liked to pet people with her paws but only if you pet her in return and only in increments of 3.She'd pet you 3 times and expect for you to return the favor. She loved people food and would meow like crazy in this happy, frantic way whenever she thought she was getting a treat.

She was the most loving creature I've ever encountered. You could dress her up. You could take her in the car. She never ran away even when the door was left open. She was always happy to see you. She wanted your attention, but she gave it back threefold.

Moles developed a thyroid condition in 1998 and I spent 4 years trying to keep her happy and relatively healthy. Even so, she began to decline. One morning she looked at me in a way that I knew our time was limited. That evening, her breathing became labored and I rushed her to the Animal ER. At that point, nothing could be done, so I held my little baby girl and stayed with her until the end. Her ashes are here with me.

How one little kittie could give someone so much joy is beyond me. She is greatly missed!

Thank you so much to the wonderful Ryan S. for making a special tribute for my Baby girl. Cheers, Ryan!
