Waterloo Daily Courier - June 12, 1962

Edward Harms, 70, of 537 Riehl St., died at Allen Memorial hospital at 10:45 p.m. on Monday of a stroke. He was born September 11, 1891 at Readlyn, the son of August and Wilhelmina Harms. He married Wilhelmina Hagenow in February, 1914.

Mr. Harms was a farmer in Bremer County until he moved to Waterloo in 1943 to work for the Allen Memorial hospital laundry. He retired in 1958.

He is survived by his widow; three sons, Paul, Waverly; Melvin W., of Cedar Falls; Martin, at home; three daughters, Rosina, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Walter Brase, Plainfield; Mrs. Raymond Dewey, Waverly. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters.

Mr. Harms was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and three granchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church with Rev. S. M. Schreitmueller, pastor officiating. Burial will be at Midwest Garden of Memories.
