Lemuel Rux McClain, b. 29 December 1844, Clarksville, AR – d. 29 April 1936, Cookeville, TN, (s/o William Alexander McClain & Mary Crane Bransford) & Sarah Emma "Emily" (Burton) McClain, b. 13 February 1850, TN – d. 1 September 1910, (d/o Stephen DeCatur Burton & Mary C. Davis Goodbar). Lemuel R. & Sarah E. (Burton) McClain are both buried in the Burton Cemetery, located in White Plains, Putnam Co., TN.

Dr Lemuel R McClain was born at Clarksville, Arkansas December 29, 1844. He married Miss Sarah Emily Burton of White Plains, Putnam on November 19, 1867. She died September 1, 1910. Dr McClain attended the Missouri Medical College of St Louis. He is a life-long Democrat, a Methodist, has been a prominent Odd Fellow since 1873 and a Mason since 1869.
