Athon Cadwell(sic) died last Saturday of consumption and was buried yesterday.
He has been to the Soldiers Home at Milwaukee during the summer and had
returned here as he said to die. He was a brave soldier in the gallant
5th Wis. Vols. during the war and his last wish was that the tattered and
torn flag of that regiment be placed upon his coffin. That wish was complied
with, and the old flag enfolded his coffin until he was laid away in the
cold earth. Eloquent addresses were delivered at the grave of this patient
soldier by Mr. John Nespor in Bohemian and Capt. J.S. Anderson in English.
The latter was a companion in arms of the deceased.
