Laurel Julianna Champneys Carter, age 34, made her transition back to her Heavenly Father Feb. 24th, after an almost five year battle with brain cancer. She was born June 3, 1971 to Ruth Ann Woods Champneys and Weldon Burton Champneys in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Bonneville High School in Ogden and attended Weber State University. She married Scott Raney Carter. They were later separated. She moved to Duchesne, Utah in 2000.

Laurel Champneys-Carter, 34, is the mother of four young daughters and is
battling brain tumor. She and the children are being cared for by both sets of grandparents, one of which – Weld and Elma Champneys live in Port Orford.
Friends of the Champneys are hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, December 4, from
3:00-6:00pm at the Port Orford Community Building. Tickets are $10 for adults,
children 12 and under are admitted free. It will be an upbeat fun dance, eat, drink
and be merry fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds will go to Laurel to pay for
treatments, medicine and alternative care, not normally covered by insurance. Lau-
rel is currently undergoing treatments, and responding well. We want to make
sure she continues to do so. The Bobby Lindstrom will rock the house
with song and dance. (The last time he Carhartt work wear and coming soon.... work boots!
Gift Certificates! was in Port Orford they would not let him go) Food will be family fun food – burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks as well as wine and beer.
Treat yourself to an afternoon of fun, food and dance, while contributing to a
