Alfred A. Carlson, age 74, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at Fairview Red Wing Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1925, in St. Paul to Albert and Alice Carlson and attended schools in St. Paul. He married Doris Zietlow June 21, 1946, in St. Paul.

He worked at Twin City Brick. They moved to Red Wing in 1960; she died in 1961. He worked at Red Wing Ready-Mix until 1965, then for Monson Trucking until retiring in February 1990.

He married Marcia Sather Oct. 9, 1965, in Ellsworth. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, he enjoyed mechanical hobbies.

He is survived by: his wife, Marcia; one son, Gary (Cindy) of Red Wing; one grandson; one brother, Melvin (Sue) of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Verna Daily of St. Paul and Betty (Roy) Sumner of Apopka, Fla. He was preceded in death by his first wife and one brother, Richard.

Funeral was Friday, Aug. 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Eisenmann officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, handled arrangements.
