Abner Jackson Garrison was born in Texas County, Missouri on March 5, 1857 to parents Martin Van Buren Garrison (1830-1920) and Rachel Angelina McBride Garrison (1830-1913) (see links below).

Abner married Mary Jane Shipp (linked below) on September 9, 1880, and their union is documented as producing eight surviving children. Records indicate that only one of the Garrison children in this generation was a son, also to be named Abner (with a middle name Van Buren to honor Abner's father).

Abner passed away on September 12, 1948 at age 91 in Saint Joe, Arkansas. He was interred at what is now known as Freck Cemetery in Marion County, where his son Abner Van Buren Garrison had previously been laid to rest in 1922, and where his widow Mary Jane and daughter Julia An Garrison Collie would also eventually lie in rest.
