Alvin Launta Armstrong, 90, of Lexington, widower of Hildred Delores Hatton Armstrong died Sunday, July 12, 2009. He was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Bessie Lee McCarty Armstrong. He was a retired farm manager for the Blackburn Correctional Facilty, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was past president of the 713th Flame Throwers. Mr. Armstrong was also a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. Survivors include his children, Craig Vincent (Elouise) Armstrong, Casstown, OH, Bonita Carol (Kevin) Massie, Lexington, KY, Eric Hatton (Penny) Armstrong, Salt Lake City, UT, Frederick Alvin Armstrong, Naples, FL, Grant Lee (Sandra) Armstrong, Troy, OH, Holly Suzanne (David) Hasler, Bentonville, AK and Ivan Phillip (Jennifer) Armstrong, Lexington, KY; 38 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1789 Tates Creek Road. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road and from 10 until 11 am Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad, KY. Family will be serving as pallbearers.
