The residents of the village of Athens were surprised to learn yesterday morning of the death of Mr. Israel Porter, one of the oldest and best known citizens of that place. Deceased had complained of not feeling very well Monday, but nothing serious was thought to be the matter, and he retired to bed that night with no alarming symptoms of illness, but before morning he died. The cause of his decease was pneumonia.
