William worked as an attendant as an oil station and Bernice as a saleslady at a retail department store William had completed school through the 8th grade and Bernice had completed four years of High School. Shortly after the Census, the couple moved to Washington state.
The couple were blessed with two children; Arvilla Hazel Buchan (Benny Ray) Jones born in 1941 and William Dean Buchan Jr (Dianne Johnson) born in 1942. Both of them were born in Long View, Washington. They also had 12 grandchildren.
