He was married to Oris Ola Smith and they raised 5 children, all born while they lived in Oklahoma. Erwin McLain 'Mike', Donald Dee, Juanita 'Nita' M.L., Philip Leroy and David.
In the early 1950's they moved to southern California with (or near), Ola's brother Roy, and Pop worked as a mechanic with his oldest son "Mike" in a small auto repair shop.
He was small in stature, balding on top with a tuft of hair in the front, seldom wore his false teeth, laughed hard, loved coffee and booze, Schnitzel the dachsund, and thrived on grandkids.
Rest in peace Pop!! Perhaps a Veteran marker will be placed in your honor some day! For now, a volunteer has taken the photos to the right where you rest without a marker, and they have posted photos of the 2 markers which are on each side of you.

David Law A few weeks before his death, he told me a story of initially joining the army as a stable boy with Pershing's cavalry on the Mexican Expedition pursuing Pancho Villa. Not sure how one might verify this.

He was born in Tribbey, Tennessee 1901. He joined state militia about 1913/14 as a stable by in the cavalry and went to Mexico with Pershing after Pancho Villa. Then he was motorcycle infantry in France in WWI.
He had at least 2 brothers: one a private detective/polygraph operator in Orange Co in late 50's/early 60's, and another in Chicago met by son Phil in mid 60's.
