BLASCYK, LAWRENCE PETER; age 73, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek, Celebrant. Military honors and burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly.
Mr. Blascyk was born in Pontiac on July 11, 1938; the son of Stephen [Blascyk] and Helen (Czerwonka) Blascyk. He graduated from St. Frederick High School in Detroit in 1957 and then served in the US Air Force. He was retired from GM where he worked in the Pontiac Motor Foundry. He was the co-founder of the Pontiac Bottle Club and was the founder of the Stovebolt Racing Team. He was active in Scouting for over 20 years and was the former Scout Master of Troop 44 of White Lake, Troop 43 of Holly, and Troop 3 of Davisburg. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award of Scouting.
Surviving are his wife Sally; two sons, Robert (Rebecca) Blascyk of Plymouth and Thomas (Cassie) Blascyk of Highland; four grandchildren, Anne, Emma, David, and Boniface; two sisters Sheila and Catherine Blascyk both of Pontiac; brother Michael (Linda) Blascyk of Davison; and sister-in-law Maryann Maggard of FL.
