Karl A. Fritsch, 89, of Nicollet, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Nicollet. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Tuesday.

Karl is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Lueck of Waterville, Joanne and Myron Bode of Nicollet, Janet "Jenny" and Jim Otto of Nicollet, Shirley and Gary Bruns of New Ulm, and Sharon ZumBerge of New Ulm; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elda on April 14, 1994; two sisters; and three brothers.

Karl was born May 26, 1914, in Kelso Township, Sibley County, to George and Anna (Erdman) Fritsch. He married Elda Schroeder on April 6, 1935, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After marriage they farmed in the Gaylord and Arlington area for 20 years. They moved to Nicollet in 1954, where they owned and operated Karl's Bar until 1968. They moved to Rhinelander, Wis., for two years and the back to Nicollet in 1971.

Karl was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auctions, antiques and dancing.
