BRUCE EDWARD LORD
Bruce was born in Darien, Connecticut, on March 13, 1930, the son of son of John and Beatrice Lord. He joined the army during the Korean conflict and, upon discharge, settled in Lynwood, California. He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber during the 1950's. In 1960, he moved to Riverside where he found employment with Gate City Beverage Distributors and made life-long friends as he called on his accounts in Riverside and Imperial Counties. He played many games of golf with his friends at Jurupa Hills Country Club where he was a member. In 1972, he took over the lease of the Canyon Lake Country Store and where he rented fishing boats and supplied groceries to the few residents and many campers. He is well remembered for his Friday Night Steak dinners at "Lord's Landing." He was also the originator of the popular "Parade of Lights." In 1979, he parted ways with the Canyon Lake Store and became the manager of the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Market. His last and most recent employment was with Budget Car Rental picking up and delivering cars. He is survived by his dear friend and companion for the last 10 years, Marie Morrison of Canyon Lake; his son, Randel Lord, of Subic Bay, Philippines; a sister, Mary Jane Lord, of Florida; sister-in-law Lee Lord of Hemet, and nieces Linda and Jan and nephew John. Memorial service will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 5 at 1:45 a.m. Published in Press-Enterprise on June 2, 2012.
