Demareas (also spelled Damarias and Demaris) moved from NC to Sommerville, Fayette Co., TN, where she was first married to Anthony H. Browne. She arrived in Memphis, a widow by 1850. They had three children that made it to adulthood:

William Herndon Browne (w.Anna Virginia Davenport)
Sarah "Sally" Browne (h. William H. Owen)
Emma Browne (h.1. N.K. Stevenson, h.2 Ephram Frazier, h.3 W.H. Fowler)

Demareas remarried Augustus B. McGinnis on 10-12-1851 in Memphis. They had one child that survived to adulthood:
Alice McGinnis (see Alice Bruce Holst #65650985)

After her death in 1855 of Yellow Fever, Demareas was burried in A. B. McGinnis's plot in Morris Cemetery. Her remains and 11 others buried in Morris Cemetery were moved to Elmwood around 1860. She has no grave marker and there is no record of her grave number in the plot.
