Homer Judge Cavanaugh, III, 64, of 9311 Crystal Falls Drive, Boonsboro, MD, died on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, MD, after a brief illness.
Born March 9, 1944 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Homer Judge Cavanaugh, Jr. and Lois Virginia Hartle Cavanaugh. He graduated form Smithsburg High School, class of 1962.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was previously employed with Pangborn Corporation for twenty years, and presently employed with SAIC of Fort Detrick for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church, and served as a Deacon. He was a member of the American Legion, Funkstown Post 211, and a former member of the Boonsboro Bass Club.
He is survived by his wife, Janet M. Lynch Cavanaugh, whom he married on March 13, 1992; one daughter, Kerry L. Stenger, and husband Eric K., of Martinsburg, WV; one son, Craig A. Cavanaugh, and friend Sherri Dennis, of Walkersville, MD; one step-daughter, Teresa M. Demosky, and husband Kevin L., of Hagerstown; two step-sons, James D. Lynch of Rockville, MD, and Lawrence L. Lynch of Hagerstown; one sister, Judy A. Martin and husband Dennis W., of Waynesboro, PA; four grandchildren, Madison I. Cavanaugh, Katelyn E. Cavanaugh, Kaden C. Stenger, and Gavin C. Stenger; and seven step-grandchildren, David J. Lynch, Ryan Lynch, Christopher Lynch, Anthony Ferrera, Danny Ferrera, Gwen M. Demosky, and Patrick E. Demosky. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. J. Mark Curran and Father Steven Hook will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
