Mr. Robert Leslie Hodgdon, 52, of 8510 Adventure Court, Walkersville, Md., died Sept. 15, 1987, at a Frederick, Md. hospital. He was the husband of Joan Avery (Burgess) whom he married Aug. 30, 1958. He was born at Bangor, Dec. 14, 1934, the son of Charles W. and Helen Emma (Lindsey) Hodgdon. He was a member of the Assembly of God, Walkersville, Md., where he served on the board of trustees. He graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S., in agriculture in 1957 and received his M.S. in entomology in 1962 from the University of Maine. He was a member of the Alpha Zeta Honorary Agricultural Fraternity. Mr. Hodgdon retired in Aug. 1986, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, after serving as plant quarantine inspector and identifier in El Paso, Texas and Laredo, Texas and as instructor at the Professional Development Center in Frederick, Md. After his retirement, he had been employed as a realtor with the Ralph Brown Realty Company. He was a member of the Entomological Society of Maryland and the Entomological Society of America. He was also a member of the Frederick East Camp of Gideon's international, where he held many offices. He was very active in Masonry, was a past master of Laredo Lodge 547 Af & Laredo, Texas and a past district deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas. Mr. Hodgdon was a past high priest of Laredo Royal Arch Chapter, past thrice illustrious master of Laredo Council Royal and Select Masters, past district deputy of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas, and a member of the Jacques deMolay Commandery 4, Knights of Templar of Frederick. At the time of his death, he was serving as Venerable master of the Frederick Lodge of perfection, he was a past wise master, chapter of Rose Croix, 32nd Degree Member, Chesapeake Consistory Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and Knight Commanding Court of Honor (KCCH). He was also a member of the Ali Ghan Temple A.A.O.N.M. Shrine of Cumberland, Keystone Kopps of Ali Ghan Temple of Frederick, past patron of Laredo Chapter 86, order of Eastern Star. Surviving besides his wife and mother are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Rebecca) L. McLaughlin of Moore, Okla., Mrs. George (Ruth) L. Stickland of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Mark K. Hodgdon of Walkersville, Md.; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann McLaughlin and Edward John both of Moore, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Martha) L. Berry of Millinocket; several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens near Frederick, Md. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in memory of Mr. Hodgdon to the Frederick East Camp Gideon's International, P.O.
