Marion Raymond Hester, 80, of DeLeon Springs, passed away on July 11, 2009 at the Alliance Center in DeLand.
He was born in Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia on June 15, 1929. Ray lived over forty years in Volusia County, FL. He was a member of the National Guard.
Ray is survived by his wife of over 52 years of marriage, Jackline Marietta McDaniel; their four children,Selena Watkins (Key), Bill R. Hester (Leslie), Cheryl L. Hester (Matt) and Harold L. Hester. He has five grandchildren, Cameron, Oakley, Harrison, Raymond and Corey. He is survived by his sister, Mary H. Pope; and brother, Bill G. Hester. He has many wonderful nieces and nephews, and lots of loving, caring relatives.
Ray was especially proud of all his class of 1950 Bulldog classmates and special friends. He will be missed by all.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 12:00 p.m. at the Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand with calling hours from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Cemetery in DeLeon Springs. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3200 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
