On July 24, 1971, he was the observer in a Hughes Cayuse Observation Helicopter on a reconnaissance mission over Cambodia when it was shot down 5 miles inside Cambodia, in Kracheh Province just a few miles south east of Snuol.
His remains were never recovered.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
