ATKINS, Va. Betty Joan Atkins, age 76, died June 1, 2012, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Va. She was preceded in death by her father, George Robert Atkins and a brother, George Robert Atkins Jr. Betty is survived a sister, Patsy Edmonds and husband, Bud of Ashland, Va.; brother, Johnny G. Atkins and wife, Dorothy of Atkins, Va; special niece, Melanie Ann Titmus and husband, Scott of Richmond, Va.; several cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Minister Bill Edmonds officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
