Florence M. Armstrong , 79, York, Pa., formerly of Shawnee, died Friday in York, Pa.

She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Bristow, the daughter of Marvin Lane and Martha Fern (Hall) King.

She attended Bristow Public Schools and graduated from Bristow High School.

Armstrong later attended Draughon Business College in Oklahoma City.

She married Darrell D. Armstrong January 1, 1940, in Tulsa.

Armstrong lived in Shawnee for about 20 years.

She worked as a radio dispatcher for Ventura County, Calif.

She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was the secretary for Little League Baseball of Ventura, Calif.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue SanMartin of Shawnee; son, James Michael Armstrong of Missouri; brothers, Ted King of Shawnee and Bob King and wife Louise of Glenpool; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Armstrong was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 1317.
