Funeral services for Mrs. Alice T. Tompkins, 79, 713 Travis street, Shreveport, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at Wellman funeral chapel, conducted by Dr. Guy Hicks, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Alexandria, a nephew of Mrs. Tompkins, assisted by Rev. Rowland Crowder, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church, of which she was a member.

Mrs. Tompkins was a native of Minden and lived here for a number of years before moving to Shreveport. She was the widow of the late William A. Tompkins who died in 1920. After funeral services in Shreveport the body was brought to Minden for burial in the local cemetery at 4:30. Mrs. Tompkins died in a Shreveport hospital Tuesday.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C.C. King of Ruston and Mrs. B.J. Bruce of Stillwater, Oklahoma; four sons, J.T. Tompkins and Jasper Tompkins of 713 Travis Street, Shreveport; Alvin Tompkins and Frank Tompkins of Hartford, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. W.B. Martin of Houston, Texas, Mrs. W.A. Barnett of Lamar, Colo.; and Mrs. Walter Mullis of Clovis, N.M.

Mrs. Tompkins had been a member of the Baptist Church since a child. She was also a member of Magnolia chapter of the Eastern Star and of the White Shrine.
