Robert McCowan "Mac" Read 1927 - 2012 Robert McCowan "Mac" Read was reunited with his eternal companion, Audrey Ostler Read, May 27, 2012. Mac was born September 30, 1927, to Alonzo and Lucy Robinson Read in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since Lucy died when Mac was young he was lovingly raised by his doting sisters and beloved stepmother, Grace Cherry Read. A true disciple of Jesus Christ, Mac served six missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, four of which beside his favorite companion, Audrey. Mac's most beloved converts to the Gospel were his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Mac and Audrey have five children, Gayle (Bill) Hadfield, R. Mark (formerly married to the late Susan Cobb), Barbara (Gregg) Page, Dorothy (Steve) Fairbanks and Rosemary (Jeff) DeMond. Mac's legacy includes 24 grandchildren, 15 grandchildren-in-law and 38 great-grandchildren (with four more on the way!). His professional life took him from Utah to Omaha, Nebraska, Wichita, Kansas, Phoenix, Arizona and Tucson, Arizona, where he and Audrey spent over 25 very happy years. In retirement Mac and Audrey moved to Salt Lake and then to Meridian, Idaho. Mac returned to Utah after Audrey's death living with daughter, Barbara until his illness required residence at North Canyon Care Center – where he passed away. The family is extremely grateful to the dedicated and exceptional staff at North Canyon Care Center and Vista Care Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 S. 200 East, Farmington, Utah. A Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah, at approximately 4:00 that afternoon. While we truly appreciate flowers if you would like to remember Mac with a donation to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the family would be honored.
