Carol Rose (Collura) Larson was born on February 5, 1922 in Galesburg, Illinois. She was the daughter of Michelanglo Collura and Lucia Cheneler (Cerniglia) Collura, one of four children. She worked in Washington DC during WWII, and for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Chicago where she met Louis Halbert Larson. They were married on April 27, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois.

Carol loved to garden, cook, travel and read. She also was extremely interested in politics, and had a great sense of humor.
