ELIZABETHTON --
James W. Hatley Sr., 76, of Hillcrest Circle, Jonesborough, died Monday at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Greeneville, he was a son of the late Charles Willard and Lula Ellen Campbell Hatley.

Mr. Hatley served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam. He retired with 21 years of service.

He was of the Baptist tradition of faith.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Hatley; six children and their spouses: Becky and Steve Jenkins of Jonesborough, James W. Hatley Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Elizabethton, Barbara Odom of Fall Branch, Jeffrey and Connie Hatley of Chattanooga, Angie and Jeff Odom of Elizabethton, and Joe and Ginger Hatley of Paducah, Ky.; 11 grandchildren: Steve Jenkins, Randy Jenkins, Brandon Hatley, Crystal Hatley, Greg Odom, Shannon Jackson, Jodie Hensley, Garrett Odom, Logan Odom, Tyler Hatley, and Tiffani Hatley; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Bonnie and Orville Walton of Greeneville and Deloris and Doug Hammitt of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Patricia Deakins and Hilda Hensley.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton. A private disposition will be held at a later date.
