Murray Nicol was well loved in life, and reached out to many in random kindness. His dad, John Nicol, was the minister at the Chase Congregational Church, and died when Murray was a boy. His mother Rachel Nicol served as librarian in Chase. Murray taught many of the Chsae area schools in the early 1900's. He also was the Chase postmaster. He moved to Flint in his early 30's where he was an auto worker. Later in life he had a cottage at Whalen Lake, near Baldwin, Lake County, and would spend winters in Florida.
