Rena Clayton (Hunsinger) Abernathy, age 89, of Wellford, SC, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
The daughter of Drew M. and Ina (Hammett) Hunsinger, she was born in Campobello, SC on January 6, 1923. She lived in the Campobello area for the next 22 years. In 1945, she married Sgt. Rob Abernathy and they moved to Missouri for two years. When they came home, they lived in the Wellford area for the remainder of their lives.
She was a member of the Wellford Baptist Church, an avid reader, and a vegetable and flower gardener.
Visitation was Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Wellford Baptist Church from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral at 3:00 PM.
Interment followed at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Wellford, SC.
Mrs. Abernathy was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert Lee Abernathy.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine (Bob) Felton, of Wellford, SC, her son, Barney (Linda) Abernathy, of Chesterfield, SC, five grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be sent to The Building Fund, Wellford Baptist Church, 225 Syphrit Rd., Wellford, SC 29385.
