Mrs. Judith S. Wair, for nearly 60 years a resident of LaPorte, died at 4 o'clock this morning of a complication of diseases, following an illness of eight months. The deceased was born June 17, 1835, in Milford, Otsego County, New York, being the daughter of Hiram and Mary Sweet. She came to LaPorte in 1855 and three years later was married to Andrew J. Wair, who passed away in 1874. Mrs. Wair is survived by seven children. Mrs. W. Larsh of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Edward Gildersleeve of LaPorte, Mrs. (Dr.) P. H. Preston of Plymouth, Charles H., John E., and Elisha E. Wair, of LaPorte and Attorney Rowan Wair of South Bend. Mrs. Wair was a good and loving wife and mother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. The funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the house, Dr. J. B. Donaldson officiating. Burial at Patton Cemetery, with Weir & Sievert in charge.
Mrs. Judith S. Wair passed away at 4 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Charles H. Wair, 1208 Clay Street, with whom she had been making her home for some years. The deceased was born in Milford, Otsego County, NY, June 17, 1835. She came to Indiana with her parents in 1855, and on August 19, 1858, she was married to Andrew J. Wair. To this union were born seven children, all surviving. They are Charles H., with whom she made her home; John E. and Eliza G., of LaPorte; Harry R. of South Bend, and three daughters, Mrs. W. L. Laish of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Edwin Gildersleeve, and Mrs. (Dr.) H. P. Preston, of Plymouth. The funeral will be held from the home, 1208 Clay Street, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. J. B. Donaldson officiating. Mrs. Wair was a devoted wife and mother, and will be dearly missed, not only from the home circle, but by all those who knew her, or had come under her gentle influence. Weir & Sievert are in charge.
