Frederick Augustus Kerr Sr. was according to Mary O. Kerr (Hillhouse), one of the 12 Scotchmen sent to survey the territory west of the Mississippi River including the Cherokee Nation (OK). He and Louise went the gold rush trail in 1849 to CA and returned.

Frederick served in the Confederacy in 1861 in the Civil War; he is listed on the 1896 Old Settler Payroll: Muskogee, OK.

Frederick married on 27 Dec 1837 Louisa Jane Coody (buried at Citizens); they had the following children: Francis (Frank), Flora McIva, Minerva Murrell, Neville Craig, Anna (Annie) Eliza, John Ross, Frederick Augustus Jr., Mary Elizabeth, and Charles Ross Coody Kerr (and perhaps John Lowrey Kerr?).
