John C. Hoover

Augusta, GA –Mr. John C. Hoover, husband of Mrs. Nell Tankersley Hoover, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, after a brief illness.

Mr. Hoover was a member of National Hills Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class. He was the past president of The National Hills Lions Club where he received awards for decades for Perfect Attendance and The Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award. Mr. Hoover was loved by his extended family including his many nieces and nephews and was known for his colorful storytelling and loved golf. He served in the Navy for three years during World War II. Mr. Hoover was the retired owner of Family Finance.

Family members in addition to his wife include son: Steve Hoover (Karen) of Appling, GA; daughter: Sharon Dukes (Carl) of Rockledge, FL.; grandchildren: Seth Hoover (Julia) of Albuquerque, NM; Cable Hoover of Gallup, NM, Connor Hoover and Colin Hoover both of Appling and brother: Harold Hoover (Shannon) of Martinez. Mr. Hoover was predeceased by his brother Ernie Hoover.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at National Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Murrell and Rev. Kevin Steele officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers were the members of his Adult Sunday School Class.
