Marvin Ray Mackay

1939 ~ 2012
Our dear husband, son, brother, uncle, dad, grandpa and great grandpa returned to his Heavenly Father on June 4, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was the 2nd son to Rex Thomas and Mary Ethel (Smith) Mackay, born Aug 9, 1939. He was raised in Taylorsville, Utah along with his brothers Sam (Caroline), Tom (Jane) and Roger (Kim).

Ray began his career as a heavy equipment operator and was known to many as "Grader Ray". He was most recently employed at Frank Edwards Co. Ray was a member of the LDS Church and in the last few years enjoyed doing Temple work. Ray had many life long friends, but most important in his life were his wife, June and his adoring daughters, Kathy (Rod) Ness, Cyndy (Bob) Dowland, Sandy (Esera) Leota, Sheri (Todd) Thomas, Jeni (Tim) Doxtater and Rachel Mackay (Andy Larsen), June's children Jeremy (Andrea) Day, and Heather Day, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his father and 3 brothers, and nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his mother Ethel, his older brother, Robert, his sister, Catherine, and grandson, Jonathan. Ray's passing will truly leave a void in many lives.

A viewing will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. Riverton, Utah from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday June 9, at Cedar Breaks Ward, 5643 So. 2200 W. Taylorsville, Utah at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing 1 hour prior. Interment Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
